Escondido Creek Trail Closures Impact Access

City News & Updates Posted on July 15, 2025 | Last Updated on July 15, 2025

Upcoming work

Construction continues along the Creek Trail, with active work zones throughout the project area. Here's what you can continue to expect over the next two weeks:

  • Cable railing from Fig to Ash Streets
  • Removing chain link fencing from Date to Ash Streets.
  • Grading, placing decomposed granite and trenching for electrical systems from Harding Street to Midway Drive.

Trail users should anticipate the following impacts:

  • Sections of the trail will require full 24-hour closures for public safety during cable railing removal and replacement. Each section will take approximately four (4)– five (5) working days to complete.
  • The north side from Date to Fig Streets will be closed for more than a month for bridge area improvements and decorative pavers.
  • The south side from Date to Cedar Streets will be closed for fence removal and replacement as crews work eastward.

Please pay attention to road signs in the area for the most up-to-date information on Creek Trail access.

Recently completed

Crews continue to make steady progress along the Escondido Creek Trail, completing several key improvements over the past few weeks:

  • The north side between Juniper and Hickory Streets has reopened following installation of new cable railing.
  • A new 6-foot steel fence has been completed between Broadway and Juniper Streets and between Fig and Date Streets.
  • The south side between Fig and Date Streets has reopened, with final cable railing near the Date Street bridge to be installed after paving work in the coming months.
