On August 25, 2018 at approximately 7:47 PM, the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of flames seen on the roof of a single family home at 1023 Circle Dr. A structure fire response was dispatched to the location. The first arriving Engine Company Officer reported light smoke coming from the rear of the structure and Firefighters found active fire in the kitchen cabinetry and vent hood above stove.  

The fire was contained and controlled in approximately 8 minutes. The kitchen sustained moderate damage to the cabinets, ceiling and roof area above the fire. The interior of home sustained minor smoke damage. In all, three fire engines, one truck, one rescue ambulance and one Battalion Chief responded to the fire.
An adult resident of the home sustained minor burn injuries and was transported to UCSD Medical Center for evaluation. Red Cross assisted the family with essential immediate needs. 

There were no injuries to firefighters and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
