On August 14, 2018, at approximately 8:24 a.m., the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a fire in a single-family home located at 3900 Foxley Drive. The first arriving fire engine reported the garage of the home was fully involved with visible smoke and flames. Due to the potential for the fire to spread to the surrounding vegetation, additional resources were requested (second alarm). The fire was contained and controlled by 9:05 a.m. and it did not extend into the vegetation.
The home sustained extreme damage and is not habitable. The Escondido Fire Department was assisted by firefighters from San Marcos and Escondido Police officers provided traffic control. The Red Cross assisted with emergency aid to the family and the California Fire Foundation provided the family with a gift card for immediate essential needs.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
