On May 10, 2025 at approximately 07:14 p.m., North Comm Dispatch received a report of a fire at 1342 N Escondido Blvd. A structure fire response was dispatched to the location. The first arriving Captain found a small fire in a second-floor apartment and several rooms and hallways filled with smoke. One sprinkler head was fused during the fire and was effective in keeping the fire from spreading.
Aggressive action by the firefighters contained and controlled the fire in approximately 1 hour. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. Multiple residents of the facility where temporarily evacuated and relocated to uninvolved areas of the facility. 7 units were damaged by water and the residents were relocated to vacant units within the facility.
4 engines, 2 trucks, 1 ambulance and 1 Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
Escondido Police units provided road closures.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
