Grand Avenue Construction Update

City News & Updates Posted on April 19, 2025

Construction Updates

The finish line is in sight on Grand Avenue! This week, weather permitting, crews are adding final touches to the new sidewalks between Broadway and Maple — applying sealants, grouting, pressure washing, and removing pedestrian barricades from Broadway to Maple. Crews are also installing sidewalk pavers at the corner of Maple and Grand.

Additionally, crews are adding landscaping and irrigation from to Broadway to Maple. They will finish installing the decorative fencing between Kalmia and Broadway. Early next week, crews plan to place the last layer of asphalt to the road from Broadway to Maple. Rain is expected at the end of this week, so some work may be delayed. All streets are still expected to open at the end of April!

Last week, crews began sandblasting, a technique that uses a high-pressure stream of abrasive material to etch decorative designs and words into the concrete. Crews are currently working on tree wells between Juniper and Kalmia and the Broadway roundabout. They expect to finish this process next week. We appreciate your patience as we complete this exciting transformation!

Traffic Reminders: While construction wraps up, please be aware that through traffic is closed from Kalmia to Maple and at the Broadway intersection along Grand Avenue. Alternative routes are available at Valley Parkway and 2nd Avenue. Please remain aware of all traffic control signs. While some pedestrian barricades are being removed, please remain aware of construction and closed areas.
