Contact Battalion Chief Andre Paredes (760) 522-0516
On August 4, 2020 at approximately 12:02 AM, the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of several vehicles on fire under a structure in the 1500 Blk. of S. Maple St. A commercial structure fire response was dispatched to that location. The first arriving engine reported heavy fire conditions with fully involved vehicles and a carport.
Aggressive action by the firefighters contained and controlled the fire in approximately 45 minutes. Four vehicles and a detached wood framed carport were completely destroyed. Three vehicles, approximately 75’ away, were damaged from radiant heat (melted plastics). Although some residents of the apartment building were evacuated as a precaution, there was no damage to the building. In all, four fire engines, one truck, one rescue ambulance, a Fire Investigator and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire.
Escondido Police Officers assisted with traffic control and evacuations.
No Injuries to firefighters or civilians and cause of the fire is under investigation.
