On February 3, 2019 at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a possible fire in a motor home located in the area of the 600 block of Howe Place. A large smoke column was reported from a distance, due to the potential for fire to spread a working fire upgrade was requested. The first arriving engine reported a large amount of fire and smoke coming from the motor home and threatening adjacent structures.
Aggressive action by the firefighters contained and controlled the fire in approximately 20 minutes. The motor home sustained major damage from fire and smoke. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. In all, 4 fire engines, 1 truck, 1 rescue ambulance, 2 Battalion Chiefs, and 1 Investigator responded to the fire.
Escondido Police Units provided crowd and traffic control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
