FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Contact Battalion Chief Britt Matthews (760) 586-7130
On June 25, 2022 at approximately 6:30 AM, The Escondido Police and Fire Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a residential structure fire in the area of Kenora Street and Boyle Avenue. A full residential structure fire response was dispatched to the area.
Police officers in the area saw smoke and located the fire on Queenston Drive. Officers contacted the residents, who were unaware of the fire, and evacuated them to a safe location.
The first arriving Engine Company reported a working fire in the rear portion of the residence extending to the attic. Aggressive firefighting tactics limited the fires interior spread to the kitchen and adjacent dining area. The attic fire spread quickly causing damage to nearly the entire attic. It took 20 firefighters approximately 45 minutes to completely extinguish the fire. Overhaul and the search for hidden fire extensive due to the rapid spread of the attic fire.
No Firefighters or civilians were injured during the incident. While searching the residence Firefighters locate two small dogs that were uninjured. Four adults were displaced due to the extensive fire damage and are staying with family members locally. The residents were presented with a $250.00 SAVE card from the California Fire Foundation to assist with immediate needs.
4 Engine Companies, 1 Truck Company, 1 Rescue Ambulance, and 2 Battalion Chiefs were committed to the incident for nearly 2 hours.
