On August 31, 2020 at 13:47 PM, the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a possible vegetation fire in the area of Sprucewood Ln near Old Ranch Rd. A Mutual Threat Zone vegetation response was dispatched, the first arriving Company Officer reported an active fire approximately two acres of light fuels burning at a slow rate of spread threatening a residential structure.
The fire was contained to approximately 4 acres in size and lasted 2 hours in duration. Due to the Mutual Aid agreement in the area, cooperating agencies from Escondido, San Diego, and Cal Fire dispatched a total of 16 Engines, 1 Utility Truck, 1 Squad, 1 Patrol, 1 Hand Crew, 4 Aircraft, 4 Chief Officers and a Fire Investigator to the incident. The initial threat to the structure was quickly mitigated by firefighters at scene. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
