FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Contact Battalion Chief Tyler Batson (760)522-0516

On January 22, 2024 at approximately 12:11 p.m., the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received reports of a residential structure fire located at 2957 Roseann Ave. Fire units observed smoke showing from a distance and requested a working fire upgrade for additional resources. The first arriving engine reported a well involved, working structure fire located in the garage area.

Aggressive action by the firefighters located, contained, and controlled the fire activity in about 20 minutes from time of dispatch. The fire from the garage spread throughout the attic space causing further damage and requiring significant overhaul to completely extinguish. Electrical and gas utilities were secured to safely extinguish the fire and prevent further hazards.

In all, twenty-one firefighters and two fire prevention specialists responded to the fire. SDGE was dispatched to address gas and electric utilities. EPD provided traffic control and scene safety. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. Three adult residents were displaced and one $250 “SAFER” gift card was provided on behalf of the California Fire Foundation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Safety Message: Working smoke and CO detectors are essential for safe, early detection of fire in all homes.
