Grand Fire

On April 9, 2024 at approximately 01:45 a.m., the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a possible fire in a row of detached garages at 2094 E Grand Ave and dispatched a structure fire response. The first arriving engine reported a single-story row of garages with smoke coming from several garage doors. The fire was upgraded to a working commercial fire.

Aggressive action by the firefighters contained and controlled the fire in approximately 60 minutes. The fire extensively damaged 1 garage and spread to 3 other attached garages. The additional garages had minor damage. The fire did not extend into any apartments. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. In all 5 fire engines, 1 truck company, 1 rescue ambulance and 1 Battalion Chief responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
